Abstract

The effect of vesicular-Arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi (MVA): Glomus manihotis, G. occultum, Acaulosppora appendicuta, A. foveata, Entrophospora colombiana and a mixture of the three species on Cordia alliodora early growth, was evaluated. Yield was quantified by measuring following parameters: stems, leaf and root ratio at six different ages.


Symbiosis occurred between 7.5-9.5 months for G. manihotis, A. appendicula, E. colombiana and the mixture and between 9.05-13.5 months for G. occullum y A. foveata. This long latency period suggests the convenience of latter inoculations, when seedlings have at least three pairs of leaves (7-8 months age).


Best yield was obtained when seedlings were inoculated with A. appendicula, a species that is recommended for inoculation programs in nursery; next options are E. colombiana and the mixture. Responses to G. manihotis, G. occultum and A. foveata are not significant for stimulating early growth in C. alliodora.
