Usos potenciales de dos especies de plantas andinas en la cuenca del río Tunjuelo, Bogotá, Colombia

Abstract

I carried out an ethnobotanical study focused on documenting the traditional uses of two species of Andean plants: Cestrum buxifolium (Solanaceae) and Citharexylum sulcatum (Verbenaceae). The study took place at the middle basin of Tunjuelo river, rural area of Ciudad Bolivar locality, at Bogotá city. I carried out 41 semistructured interviews with informants from three different veredas within the locality: Mochuelo Alto, Pasquilla and Quiba Alta. The species C. buxifolium is known for its magical-religious uses, the ink obtained from its fruits, and its medicinal uses. C. sulcatum is also employed as a source of ink and its wood is used to make agricultural tools. I recommend evaluating the potential use of the ink obtained from both species in food and textile industries. For C. buxifolium I recommend a pharmaceutical study to investigate the therapeutical applications of the species.
