Abstract

The text presents the methodology and the results of ecological restoration process that took place in 2006 in the watershed of the Limas river located in the southern of Bogota. Emphasis is placed on the «sociodynamic approach» used in the case study showing how determined the social potential of the territory, which allowed the zoning at the «biophysical potential». The study was conducted in an area with complex urban-rural dynamics both socially and environmentally, characterized by having low-income population, and many productive uses of the landscape. The research was developed from the Botanical Garden José Celestino Mutis to the emergency situation caused by periodic flooding in this watershed, and from the guideline of the city government to intervene jointly by public agencies to prevent and mitigate the factors that increase these environmental risks.
