Alive sceneries of learning: divulgative and practical strategy for the scientifical research with the communities

Abstract

The scientific research developed by the Botanic Garden of Bogotá for the improvement of the techniques of conservation in situ and ex situ, the sustainable use and the ecological restoration in high altitude ecosystems and paramos, requires a successful strategy to complete two purposes: the divulgation of the knowledge and the incorporation of the urban and rural communities’ research to the Garden's work; for this the alive scenarios of learning, EVA, have been formulated and applied as this strategy. The EVA are places inside the territory that stimulate the scientific investigation in the community as a unique mean to understand the environment and to build a valid knowledge about the environmental problem that face up Bogotá. In there, the community can understand fundamental aspects for the restoration and conservation of the strategic ecosystems of the city, in a permanent interaction between the practice and the knowledge –practical-knowledge-practical–.

The EVA begins with the work placing together the professionals and the community to an approach to the interpretation of the differentiated geographical, biological and social elements and its interactions with the production relationships, then deeply analyze the relations at the interior of the populations that defines the territory and its undeniable relationship with socioeconomic phenomena at great scales. After that starts the practice in restoration, sustainable use and conservation without losing the perspective of the problem; everything with the purpose of transforming the conditions that permanently affect and impact the needs of the territory and its people.
