Guided walks and learning of children in the Botanic Garden José Celestino Mutis

Abstract
This study identifies the apprenticeship of students of fourth to seventh grade, as they participate in guided walks that were designed at the light of some principles of the constructivist theory of learning, done with a group of environmental guides from the Educative and Cultural Subdivision of the Botanic Garden of Bogotá José Celestino Mutis. The study took place in the first semester of 2005 and the second semester of 2006. Equally the study compares the different types of learning between the kind of trips and the ones that were traditionally used in this garden. The non-participative observations are analyzed on the guided walks as well as semi structured interviews done after the guided walks, works done by the students and the tape recordings of the trips were the guides and the students interacts with each other. The results show that there is a relation between the type of environment of learning that produced in the guided walks and the learning itself by the children.
