Corological and fenological research about eight species that inhabit andino forest in Bogota D.C. (Cundinamarca, Colombia)

Abstract

Changes in land use and occupation in rural areas of Bogota have produced the fragmentation of their andino forests. To be able to design ecological conservation and restoration projects oriented to establish the initial conditions of these ecosystem, it is necessary to know the biology of species that inhabit these vegetal formations. The main objective of the research that we are presenting here was to study the corology and fenology of the following species: Ageratina aristei, Buddleja bulllata, Cordia cylindrostachya, Eupatorium angustifolium, Holodiscus argenteus, Miconia squamulosa, Palicourea vaginata and Piper bogotense.

After spatial analyses, we could determine that the distribution of these species is spread out in the following bioclimatic zones: andino, high-andino and sub-moor, in humidity regimes that vary from 900 to 1200 and temperatures which are less than 13º Celsius, whose highest gradient is 50º. The potential distribution is extended over the eastern hills, the southern region of Sumapaz, and Los Ríos, Peñaliza, Laguna Verde y Santa Helena sidewalks.

The fenological behavior of these species is shown in the dendrofenograms, where climatic factors were related to the fenophases detected at a specific time. Sunlight is the most important influence on almost all these species, so it is essential to generate the phenomena. More detailed observations are suggested considering the behavior of these species and the situation found in the study areas.
