The mangrove ecosystems in Colombia: present situation and perspectives

Abstract

Offers a synthesis on the mangrove ecosystems in Colombia, discussing on the species, antecedents of their traditional and industrial use, as well as about the particularities of their productivity, distribution, extension and current situation. With base in the advances obtained in the carried out works, the high-priority lines of investigation are suggested that allow to complete the knowledge of the mangrove ecosystems in Colombia, in order to assure their sustainable handling.
