Effects of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization on the biomass production of Plantago australis Lam. ssp. oreades (Decne) Rahn

Abstract
There is a deficit in the knowledge of the potential of use and managing of the flora of the Andean region. From this materializes the need to make studies of the plant's life histories of potentially useful species and their responses to diverse environmental factors. Due to this, a field experiment was carried out in order to analyze the effect of the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus in the soil on the production of biomass of them components, vegetative and reproductive, of Plantago australis ssp. oreades (species that presents a wide spectrum of potential use, principally in what it recounts to medicinal properties). This constitutes a contribution to the knowledge of the response of this species in culture conditions.
The essay is based on a factorial experiment, with four levels of phosphorus and five of nitrogen. The highest value of vegetative biomass was produced with the application of 38 mg/kg of phosphorus and 152 mg/kg of nitrogen; for reproductive biomass it was obtained with 38 mg/kg of phosphorus and 107 mg/kg of nitrogen.
