Ecosistemas Colombianos

Abstract

This paper is an attempt to classify and give a basic description of the main types of ecosystems and habitat that would have potentially covered the Colombian territory. It includes not only land ecosystems, but also continental and marine aquatic ecosystems. The main reason to propose the use of this system, which has been applied by other authors in Latin America and the Caribbean, is the basic and common language it is build upon, which makes it useful to scientists and experts, as well as laymen in decision making.
